In the early 70s, VW was
faced with many seized engine issues due to owners just draining
the oil and replacing it without cleaning the oil screen. By
doing this, oil sludge would build up in the oil pickup
tube and eventually clog it. To counteract this, VW got rid of
the oil drain plug thus forcing owners to replace the gaskets
and clean the screen. |
